The Memorial Arch. Considered to be the gateway to the Great Ocean Road, this memorial was designed to honour 3000 World War I soldiers that worked on building this 243 km stretch of road between 1919 and 1932. During your visit, you will also find a sculpture commemorating the 75th anniversary of this endeavour in honour of the returned soldiers.

The arch was built in honour of the 3,000 returned soldiers who worked on the road and its creation during World War I. They started construction on the Great Ocean Road in 1919 and completed the 243 kilometres stretch of road in 1932. There is also a sculpture that was commissioned on the road's 75th anniversary on the side of the arch.

A wooden archway on the Great Ocean rd where there us a war memorial and some historical information about the GOR and how it was built. Great photo opportunity to get the sign too.stupid tourists stepping out on the road though. The near y beach, Coalmine creek was secluded and lovely. Lots of sand low tide. Worth a stop.
